Role of Teachers in an era of digital learning
What are the
emerging trends in educational technology?
How do they
reshape the culture of learning and teaching?
I work at the Kent Transition Center where High School students learn various trades. The classroom next to mine is the Precision Machinery Room. They utilize technology in all aspects of their day. I took a quick video of the teacher John Sarver talking about how technology is used in his classroom:
I feel as technology continues to grow and expand, and staff accept and learn it can be used to teach in whole new ways reaching students that may have before been resistant to learning.
What is the role of educators in an era of digital learning?
I think that most importantly Educators need to learn about the trends of technology. They need to acclimate themselves to what is available and how it can reshape and reach their individual students. I will say in the pre-k setting there are times when the students will not want to listen to a story, but if I put a storyline story on they are actively engaged. Digital learning isn't going away, it will only progress and we as educators need to learn how to progress right along with it.
For all you Swifties out there, I found this as a fun way for teachers to incorporate student interests into her lessons! It is so great that technology is available and can be adapted to fit student needs.
